AbX^™LSDRabbitPolyclonalAntibodyforWesternblottingandChIP.

Therearetwoknownclassesofhistonedemethylases(HDM),differingintheirreactionchemistry,coenzymeuseandreactionproducts.Flavin-dependentHDMsactonlyonmono-anddimethylatedlysinesandproducehydrogenperoxide,whereastheJumonji-containingHDMsareiron-dependentenzymesthatcanactonmono-,di-andtrimethylatedlysinesidechains,andalsoonmethylatedArginineresidues.Bothclassesalsoproduceformaldehydeasaproductofthedemethylationreaction.LSD1(Lysine-specificdemethylase1)isaflavindependentamineoxidaseandwasidentifiedasasubunitofdifferentcomplexesandhasbeenshowntobeinvolvedintranscriptionalrepressionofgenesthroughthedemethylationofmonomethylLys⁴anddimethylLys⁴HistoneH3.LSD1isalsoinvolvedintranscriptionalactivationthroughthedemethylationofmonomethylLys⁹anddimethylLys⁹HistoneH3.Itisalsoabletodemethylatebothmono-anddimethylLys³⁷⁰intheregulatorydomainofthetumorsuppressorp53.
