AbX™Lys4DimethylLys4HistoneH3RabbitPolyclonalAntibodyforWesternblottingandChIP.

Thenucleosome,madeupoffourcorehistoneproteins(H2A,H2B,H3andH4),istheprimarybuildingblockofchromatin.Histoneshavebeenshowntobedynamicproteins,undergoingmultipletypesofpost-translationalmodifications,includingacetylation,phosphorylation,methylationandubiquitination.Histonemethylationisamajordeterminantfortheformationofactiveandinactiveregionsofthegenomeandiscrucialfortheproperprogrammingofthegenomeduringdevelopment.Adiversesetofhistonelysinemethyltransferaseshasbeenidentified,allbutoneofwhichcontainaSETdomainoriginallyidentifiedintheDrosophila,EnhancerofzesteandTrithoraxproteins.LysinemethylationoccursprimarilyonhistonesH3(Lys4,9,27,36,79)andH4(Lys20)andhasbeenimplicatedinbothtranscriptionalactivationandsilencing.Methylationoftheselysineresiduesinducestherecruitmentofchromatinmodifyingenzymescontainingmethyl-lysinebindingmodules.Thediscoveryin2004ofthehistonedemethylaseLSD1,followedbytheJumonjidemethylasesJMJD1,JMJD2andJHDM1hasshownthatmethylationisareversIBLeepigeneticprocesscontrollingcellularevents.
